Evidence of Success

Wakefield School (Nelson, New Zealand) trialled this concept for 1 year (April 2005 - April 2006) and assessed students' questioning skills at the beginning and end of that period.

The following tables show the gains in students questioning skills across that time.

This first table shows the shift in a group of 5year old pupils over 1 year.

The second table shows the changes in a group of 4th year students over a 1 year period.

There has been a definite positive shift in pupil's questioning over the year of the trial.
This demonstrates that any school ,who sees questioning skills as important for their pupils, now has a tool that:
  • will support teachers in their attempts improve student questiioning skills
  • provides a means of assessing questioning skills
  • allow students to self assess and improve their own questioning.
